Lost in the dark, identical and different at the same time.

Column, chair, chair, column

Lost in the dark, identical and different at the same time.  Tidy, clean with the cold warmth of fluorescent light, a spot  light in the black landscape.  The sound of the TV. The heat.

Chair-window -window-chair

The deserted, dark streets are friendly and welcoming to the visitor-.voyeur. The inhabitants don't seem at all worried about the stranger who approaches with the camera. "What can I do for you" is the common way to make contact. Sometimes a look, a gesture.

If I am lucky, I am not seen and can feel like the invisible witness of a quiet intimacy.

Shadow-Light-Shadow-Light-Shadow

The arrangement of the lights exerts a strange fascination.  The cold, bluish light emitted by the fluorescents contrasts with the bright, exaggerated colors of the homes and their neighbors.  Walls and "tropical" walls: strawberry pink, electric blue, vermilion red, chalk- white.  As if they did not have enough with the tremendous Cuban sun to light up life.

A morse code of aesthetic rhythms, a language offered by the pulse and tranquility of the predictable.   It is worth asking how the improbable case of a building that breaks the symmetry and modularity would look like. A stranger in the world of equal.

The columns offer the distinctive feature of the owner. Recent owner by the way, since private property is almost a novelty on the island.

Cylindrical column, pentagonal base, cylindrical

Entrance porch, walkway. The porch faces the road and, most of the time, the house across the street. Identical but different. Even the bushes are arranged symmetrically

It is not Hopper's loneliness; there is something warm and welcoming. Familiar even in solitude. The sweet routine, the calm of the familiar. The warmth of the close for known and predictable.
